We are UAS@UCLA, the premier undergraduate aerial robotics team at UCLA. Our team competes in the international AUVSI SUAS competition to design, manufacture, and test cutting-edge drone technology for carrying out mock search-and-rescue missions, in accordance with the competition specs.
What We Do
UAS@UCLA competes in the international AUVSI SUAS competition, held annually at a naval air base in Maryland. Teams competing in the competition are given a set of rules at the beginning of the academic school year, and are scored based on their ability to design a drone capable of carrying out specialized tasks, such as obstacle avoidance, payload delivery accuracy, and vision identification. Spinny, our drone from the 2017 - 2018 season, was designed to have a 45+ minute flight time while also carrying a water bottle and DSLR camera as payload.
Our Generous Sponsors
Drones are expensive and college students don't have a lot of money. We are forever thankful for our generous sponsors for driving us forward and allowing us to explore the field of unmanned aerial systems during our undergraduate years.
