Designing Spinny- SOLIDWORKS Integration Assignment

An advanced Solidworks Design Project

Background

In this assignment you will work on completing the simple design for Spinny, our quadcopter for the 2017-2018 competition. You will be given Spinny's core, motors, and propellers and your task is to create arms and mate everything such that you have completed the design for Spinny. Please make your design unique!

Prerequisites

This assignment assumes that you have installed Solidworks, completed the basic tutorials, and setup subversion.

Instructions

Steps:

  1. Select the SVN folder ("suas_cad")

  2. Select the folder "y2019"

  3. Select the folder "Training Assignments"

  4. Select the folder "UAS Spinny Frame Assignment"

  5. Within this folder, you will find access to the central frame, motor, and propellers. Clicking on the "central frame" folder and selecting the "Central Frame" Solidworks file, you will open the file to the central frame. Clicking on the "Motor" folder and selecting the "Motor" Solidworks file, you will open the file to the motor. Clicking on the "Prop" folder and selecting the "Prop" Solidworks file, you will open the file to the propellers.

  6. Once you've opened all of the files, you can begin making the arms for Spinny and mating all of the parts together. Create a unique arm design complete with motors, motor mounts, and landing gear. HINT: You only should make one boom assembly and make copies of that to mate

  7. For extra credit, add screws where they belong in the drone to complete the frame.

  8. Push your design to the subversion and place it in the "Completed Assignments" folder under "UAS Spinny Frame Assignment".
